The town of Polace is situated next to an ancient
Roman palace from the 2nd century A.D., after which it was named
(Polaca= palace). Polace is the biggest and safest harbor on Mljet, surrounded
by 4 islets. It has around 100 permanent residents. Polace is located right at
the entry to the Mljet National Park.
There are 2 small grocery stores, filled with all the amenities that you might need. There is also a bakery and about 10 restaurants. An ATM machine is located next to the Information Office. Car, bike and boat rentals are also available. Polace features a small beach, which is easily accessible.
